Sexual minority individuals with religious beliefs and practices rooted in non-affirming faiths are at high risk for stigma-related distress (Gattis, Woodford, & Han, 2014; Ward, 2005) such as increased internalized heterosexism. This study investigated the potential buffering effect of personal growth initiative (intentional growth) on the relationship between religious stigma and IH in 217 LGB participants. Clinical and research implications will be discussed.
