Suicide, the third leading cause of death for 10-24 year olds, has become a raising mental health concern among young individuals. Students in rural areas like Maine are not immune from suicidal risk. Due to the shortage of professional counselors, rural schools are in need of innovative suicide intervention and prevention programs to respond to students’ suicidal risk. This workshop will introduce how university counselor educators help public schools in rural areas build a suicide-safer community through multiple strategies including trainings, services, and research
